click to enlarge “Ashes,” released on Feb. 5, is a long-distance collaboration between Rochester-based pop showman Beef Gordon and alt-folk artist Hieronymus Bogs, who relocated to New Mexico after several years in the local scene. While the seeds of this project were planted in Rochester, the pair first crossed paths in New York City in the early 2000s. At first listen, “Ashes” appears to reference a fire, but the somber lyrics also speak of distress. Bogs contributes the lyrics and plays guitar over a hypnotic, stripped-down beat that was produced and recorded by Gordon. Bogs anchors the song with his stoic tenor, although the duo takes turns singing the lead and backup vocals. Gordon’s arrangement on his Casio keyboard matches songs such as Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” in spirit, while a retro-sounding solo makes for a distinctive highlight.

Taylor Swift has laid into Netflix bosses and writers behind TV show Ginny & Georgia for including a deeply sexist joke about her love life in the season one finale.
The pop superstar s fans initially took issue with the throwaway line on Sunday night after viewing episode 10 of the comedy-drama, which focuses on the life of a mixed-race teenager and her young mother in a fictional New England town.
The instalment in question was written by creator Sarah Lampert and Debra J. Fisher, and featured the mother and daughter arguing about relationships, as 15-year-old Ginny quipped: What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.

The Tim Booth-fronted Manchester band will release their follow-up to 2018 s Living in Extraordinary Times on June 4.
The album s title track is out now, and the 11-song collection was produced by Jacknife Lee - who is known for his work with the likes of U2, The Killers and Taylor Swift.
It marks the group s first LP since signing to Virgin Music Label & Artists Services (formerly known as Caroline International).
Frontman Tim said the songs were made to mirror the colours of these crazy times amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.
He said in a statement: “With all the s that went down in 2020 this was a miraculous conception and another big jump forward for us on the back of the last 3 albums. I hope It reflects the colours of these crazy times. Sweet 16 is a proper album, no fillers and is up there with our best. With love. Tim.
Alternate Ocean Proposes To Acquire Global Cord Blood For US$5.00/shr

Genetic study uncovers hidden pieces of eye disease puzzle
Scientists have taken a significant step forward in their search for the origin of a progressive eye condition which can cause sight loss.
A new study into keratoconus by an international team of researchers, including a Leeds group led by Chris Inglehearn, Professor of Molecular Ophthalmology in the School of Medicine, has for the first time detected DNA variations which could provide clues as to how the disease develops.
Keratoconus causes the cornea, the clear outer layer at the front of the eye, to thin and bulge outwards into a cone shape over time, resulting in blurred vision and sometimes blindness. It usually emerges in young adulthood, often with lifelong consequences, and affects on average 1 in 375, though in some populations this figure is much higher.
